Moma's molasses cookies

Ingredients

2poundsHomemade molasses (1 pint)
2cupsSugar
1cupButter or margarine
1teaspoonSoda dissolved in
2tablespoonsWarm water
poundsFlour (8 cups)
1teaspoonCinnamon
1teaspoonCloves
1teaspoonCardamon powder (opt)
1cupChopped pecans

Directions

Heat molasses, sugar, and sugar. When cool, add soda dissolved in 2 Tb. warm water. Sift together flour and spices. Add dry ingredients to cooled mixture and add pecans.

Roll out very thin on board prepared with flour and sugar. Cut in desired shape and place on greased cookie sheet. Let stand over night in cool place. Bake at 300ø F only until slightly crisp but not brown.
