Hot ground beef pita sandwiches - sl 9/83

tablespoon;Water
½teaspoonGround allspice
1dashGround cinnamon
¼teaspoonSalt

6eaches6-inch pita bread rounds
cupTomatoes; peeled and chopped
5eachesGreen onions with tops; chopped
½cupGreen pepper; chopped
½cupCucumber; peeled & chopped
½cupFeta cheese; crumbled

Directions

Saute ¾ cup onion in hot oil in a large skillet until tender. Add ground beef and cook until browned, stirring to crumble; drain off pan drippings. Stir in next 6 ingredients. Reduce heat and simmer 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Place bread rounds on a baking sheet; bake at 250 degrees for 10 minutes or until warm. Cut bread rounds in half; fill each pocket about half full with meat mixture. Top each with tomatoes, onion, green pepper, cucumber, and cheese. Yield: 6 servings.
