Fried dough
1 Servings
Quantity | Ingredient | |
---|---|---|
2 | pounds | Flour; (4-5 cups) |
1½ | teaspoon | Salt |
1 | tablespoon | Sugar |
4 | tablespoons | Shortening |
2 | cups | Warm water |
1 | pack | Yeast |
Dissolve the yeast in warm water. Add remaining ingredients and knead a bit. Let rise about one hour. Pinch off a piece about the size of an egg and make a hole in the middle. Fry in 1-2 inches of oil. Drain on paper towels. Shake in a brown bag with granulated sugar.
NOTES : The fried dough that I literallly grew up on was just plain Italian bread dough. No sugar and no shortening. Can't keep this cooking fast enough!! ENJOY!!!
