2Leeks; white part only, split
½mediumHead of lettuce
10White peppercorns
5Dill sprigs, fresh
3Parsley sprigs
2Bay leaves
1teaspoonDried thyme
1teaspoonSalt

Directions

Combine all ingredients in 4- to 5-quart saucepan and bring to boil.

Reduce heat and simmer uncovered 45 minutes. Strain through colander or cheesecloth-lined strainer before using. ---
