Duling apple dumplings

1 | tablespoon | Butter |
1 | tablespoon | Flour |
½ | teaspoon | Salt |
1 | cup | Hot water |
1 | tablespoon | Lemon juice |
Directions
SAUCE FOR DUMPLINGS
Notes: From The Times in Pennsylvania.
Combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Add lard and butter. Then add milk.
Roll dough to 1/2inch thickness. Brush with melted butter, sprinkle with brown sugar. Cover with chopped apples. Roll as if jelly roll, cut into 12 pieces. Place slices in buttered pan. Pour sauce over dumplings. Bake at 375° for 25 minutes or until done.
SAUCE FOR DUMPLINGS: Mix sugar, flour and salt. Add lemon juice and hot water. Stir until well mixed. Cool 3 minutes, then pour over dumplings.
Makes 12 servings.
