Cucumber sweet pickles

Yield: 1 Servings

Measure Ingredient
7 pounds Cucumbers
2 gallons Cold water
1 cup Barnyard lime
5 pounds White sugar
2 quarts Apple cider vinegar
1 pack Cinnamon sticks; broken
1 teaspoon Mace
1 teaspoon Turmeric
1 teaspoon Salt
1 tablespoon Whole cloves

First day: Slice cucumbers in ¼-inch slices & soak in lime water for 24 hours (2 gallons cold water & 1 cup barnyard lime). Second day: Rince cucumbers 2 or 3 times. Drain well & handle carefully. To the cucumbers add remaining ingredients which have been mixed well. Let stand 24 hours. Third day: Cook mixture of cucumbers & spices together for 20 minutes after boiling starts. Seal HOT.
