1 \N | Loaf (10-oz) Italian or French bread |
3 tablespoons | Olive oil |
1 teaspoon | Oregano |
½ teaspoon | Minced garlic |
8 ounces | Ground beef or sausage |
¾ cup | Prepared spaghetti sauce; divided |
\N \N | Salt and pepper |
1 cup | Shredded Mozzarella cheese |
1 tablespoon | Oarmesan cheese |
Half bread loaf crosswise, then split each half lengthwise. Mix oil, oregano and garlic, brush on the cut sides of the bread.
Mix beef with ½ cup spaghetti sauce; add salt and pepper to taste, spread on bread. Place on a broiler pan and broil 6 inches from the heat for 5 minutes until beef is lightly browned. Spread each piece with 1 tablespoon remaining sauce; sprinkle with cheese. Broil 3 minutes or until cheese melts. Serve immediately.
