Cornmeal waffles

Measure Ingredient
1 cup All-purpose flour
1 cup Yellow corn meal
2 \N Eggs (separated)
3 teaspoons Baking powder
1½ \N To 1 3/4 cups milk
2 tablespoons Sugar
6 tablespoons Liquid shortening (oil)
1 teaspoon Salt

Mix and sift dry ingredients. Add egg YOLKS, milk and shortening.

Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Bake in waffle iron until done.
