Cornmeal waffles

Ingredients

| 1 | cup | All-purpose flour |
| 1 | cup | Yellow corn meal |
| 2 | Eggs (separated) | |
| 3 | teaspoons | Baking powder |
| 1½ | To 1 3/4 cups milk | |
| 2 | tablespoons | Sugar |
| 6 | tablespoons | Liquid shortening (oil) |
| 1 | teaspoon | Salt |
Directions
Mix and sift dry ingredients. Add egg YOLKS, milk and shortening.
Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Bake in waffle iron until done.
