Chocolate almond thins

Yield: 24 servings

Measure Ingredient
1 cup butter
½ cup brown sugar, packed
½ cup granulated sugar
1 each egg yolk
1½ teaspoon vanilla
1¾ cup flour
1 cup diced almonds roasted
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate pieces

Cream together butter and both sugars. Beat in egg yolk and vanilla.

Stir in flour and half of the almonds. Spread in unoiled 9 x 13-inch baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Sprinkle hot crust with chocolate. Sprinkle with remaining almonds, pressing them lightly into melting chocolate. Cut into squares while still warm, but don't remove from pan until cool. Makes 24 squares
