Thick johnnycakes

Yield: 1 Servings

Measure Ingredient
2 cups Cornmeal
1 teaspoon Salt
2 cups Boiling water
¼ cup Milk
\N \N Vegetable oil <<or>> clarified butter for cooking

Mix cornmeal, salt and boiling water and let stand for 5 minutes. Stir in milk. Fry 2½- inch cakes on a medium hot well oiled skillet until browned on both sides.

Yield: 12 cake
