Southwestern beef and beans

Measure Ingredient
1 pounds Dried pinto beans
6 cups Cold water
½ pounds Salt pork -- cut up
1 pounds Lean chuck steak -- cut into
1 \N \" cubes
1 each Red chili peppers or....
½ teaspoon Crushed red pepper
1 each Medium onions -- chopped
2 \N Cloves garlic -- minced
6 ounces Tomato paste
1½ tablespoon Chili powder
1 teaspoon Salt
1 teaspoon Cumin seed
½ teaspoon Marjoram

Soak beans in water overnight. Brown salt pork in skillet or slow-cooking pot with browning unit. In slow-cooking pot, combine soaked beans (with water), browned pork, and remaining ingredients. Cover and cook on low for 9 to 10 hours.
