Peanut butter and jam bars

Ingredients

| ½ | cup | Packed brown sugar |
| ½ | cup | Unsalted butter |
| ½ | cup | Chunky peanut butter |
| 1 | large | Egg |
| 1¼ | cup | All-purpose flour |
| ¾ | teaspoon | Baking soda |
| ½ | teaspoon | Baking powder |
| 1 | cup | Strawberry preserves |
| Glaze | ||
| 2 | tablespoons | Unsalted butter |
| 1 | cup | Powdered sugar |
| 4 | teaspoons | Hot water - + or - |
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Well blend sugars, butter, peanut butter and egg in a large mixing bowl. By hand stir in flour, baking soda and baking powder until well mixed. Set aside 1 cup of the dough.
Press remaining dough onto the bottom of an ungreased 13x9x2-inch baking pan. Spread strawberry preserves over dough.
Crumble the reserved dough, them generously sprinkle over the layer of preserves.
Bake 20-25 minutes or until golden brown; cool completely. Drizzle with the glaze. Cut into 2 x 1¼-inch bars.
GLAZE: Melt margarine in a double boiler over low heat. Stir in powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Add water, 1 tsp at a time, beating until smooth with a wish until thin enough to drizzle over the bars.
