Oyster loaf

Measure Ingredient
1 \N Loaf French bread
1 teaspoon Prepared mustard
1 \N Minced garlic clove
¼ cup Melted butter
1 pint Oysters, plus juices
1 cup Grated mild cheese
1 tablespoon Chopped onions
\N \N Lemon slices (optional)

Slice off top of French bread; scoop out center, leaving 1" thick shell. Combine mustard & garlic with melted butter; brush over the inside of bread. Simmer oysters in their own juices until edges begin to curl; combine with cheese & onion. Fill cavity in loaf with oyster cheese mixture; replace top. Use sharp knife to slice partway through bread at 1 or 2" intervals. Wrap in foil & bake in 350 oven for 30 minutes. Unwrap & serve with lemon slices.
