Mocha walnut torte #2

Measure Ingredient
6 \N Egg whites
½ teaspoon Cream of tartar
½ cup Sugar
6 \N Egg yolks
6 tablespoons Strong cold coffee
1 teaspoon Vanilla
1½ cup Flour
½ teaspoon Salt
1 tablespoon Baking powder
1 cup Sugar
1 cup Broken walnuts
2 cups Whipping cream; whipped

(Roberta Banghart) Date: Wed, 03 Jul 1996 15:10:09 -0400 Recipe By: Recipe from The Nantucket Diet Murders by Virginia Rich Beat egg whites with cream of tartar to soft peaks, gradually beating in sugar and set aside. Combine egg yolks, coffee and vanilla. Sift all dry ingredients add to egg yok mixture and beat well. Gently fold in beaten egg whites along with walnuts. Spoon into ungreased 10" tube pan. Bake at 375ø for 40-45 minutes. Invert until cool, remove from pan. Slice in thirds crosswise. Fill and frost with cream whipped and flavored to taste with chocolate syrup.
