Yield: 6 Servings
|½ pack||(17 1/4oz.) frozen puff pastry (1 sheet),, thawed|
|2 tablespoons||Butter or margarine;, divided|
|2||Red and/or green apples; cpred and cut, into thin rings, divided|
|¼ cup||Maple syrup;, divided|
|½ cup||Apple butter|
Preheat oven to 400. On floured surface, roll pastry to 10-inch square; place on cookie sheet. Cut 1-inch diagonal slit on each corner of the pastry. Cut four ¾-inch strips from around the edge of the pastry.
Lightly moisten edge of the pastry square. Place strips along each edge so the end pieces overlap. Prick center with fork. Bake 15 minutes or until brown; cool. Meanwhile, in large skillet, over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon butter. Add ½ of the apple rings and cook 2 minutes, until tender; stir in 2 tablespoons maple syrup; set aside. In same skillet, repeat with remaining butter, apples and syrup. Spread apple butter on pastry. Top with apples. Typed by "Essie" Ethel R.
