|1 kilograms||Dried mixed fruit|
|225 grams||Glace cherries|
|150 millilitres||Orange juice|
|1 \N||Orange; zest of|
|3 tablespoons||Black treacle|
|250 grams||Unsalted butter; slightly softened|
|250 grams||Soft brown sugar|
|5 \N||Eggs; lightly beaten|
|350 grams||Plain flour|
|1½ teaspoon||Baking powder|
|100 grams||Brazil nuts; halved|
|\N \N||Marzipan and Royal icing for decoration|
1 Line the cake tin. In a large pan, place the dried fruit, cherries, stout, whisky, orange juice, zest and treacle, and bring to the boil.
2 Simmer gently for 10 minutes. In a large bowl, combine the remaining ingredients and beat together until smooth. Fold in the boiled fruit.
3 Spoon the mixture into the prepared cake tin and level the top. Bake for 3½-4 hours. Cool in the tin, remove and decorate.
