225 | grams | Glace cherries |
300 | millilitres | Stout |
150 | millilitres | Whisky |
150 | millilitres | Orange juice |

3 | tablespoons | Black treacle |
250 | grams | Unsalted butter; slightly softened |
250 | grams | Soft brown sugar |
5 | Eggs; lightly beaten | |
350 | grams | Plain flour |
1½ | teaspoon | Baking powder |
2 | teaspoons | Allspice |
100 | grams | Brazil nuts; halved |

Directions
1 Line the cake tin. In a large pan, place the dried fruit, cherries, stout, whisky, orange juice, zest and treacle, and bring to the boil.
2 Simmer gently for 10 minutes. In a large bowl, combine the remaining ingredients and beat together until smooth. Fold in the boiled fruit.
3 Spoon the mixture into the prepared cake tin and level the top. Bake for 3½-4 hours. Cool in the tin, remove and decorate.
