Yield: 4 servings
|8 ounces||Elbow macaroni|
|2 tablespoons||Butter or margarine|
|⅛ teaspoon||Cayenne pepper|
|4 ounces||Ham -- coarsely chopped|
|¼ cup||Basil -- chopped|
|2 cups||Sargento 6 Cheese Italian Recipe Blend -- divided|
|Fresh ground pepper|
Cook macaroni according to package directions. In large saucepan melt butter over medium heat. Add flour; stir 1 minute. Add milk, salt and cayenne pepper; heat to a boil, stirring constantly. Drain macaroni; add to saucepan. Toss to coat with sauce. Remove from heat; add ham and basil; toss again. Transfer half of macaroni mixture to greased shallow baking dish. Top with 1 cup cheese.
Repeat layering with remaining macaroni mixture and remaining 1 cup cheese. Bake uncovered at 350 for 25 to 30 minutes. Serve with freshly ground pepper.
