Italian style macaroni & cheese

| 8 | ounces | Elbow macaroni |
| 2 | tablespoons | Butter or margarine |
| 2 | tablespoons | Flour |
| 1¾ | cup | Milk |
| ½ | teaspoon | Salt |
| ⅛ | teaspoon | Cayenne pepper |
| 4 | ounces | Ham -- coarsely chopped |
| ¼ | cup | Basil -- chopped |
| 2 | cups | Sargento 6 Cheese Italian Recipe Blend -- divided |
| Fresh ground pepper | ||
Directions
Cook macaroni according to package directions. In large saucepan melt butter over medium heat. Add flour; stir 1 minute. Add milk, salt and cayenne pepper; heat to a boil, stirring constantly. Drain macaroni; add to saucepan. Toss to coat with sauce. Remove from heat; add ham and basil; toss again. Transfer half of macaroni mixture to greased shallow baking dish. Top with 1 cup cheese.
Repeat layering with remaining macaroni mixture and remaining 1 cup cheese. Bake uncovered at 350 for 25 to 30 minutes. Serve with freshly ground pepper.
