Measure | Ingredient |

1 cup | Milk |
1 \N | Yeast cake |
¼ cup | Water |
1½ cup | Flour |
¼ cup | Lard or crisco, melted |
½ teaspoon | Nutmeg |
1 \N | Egg, beaten |
½ teaspoon | Salt |
Cook milk until warm, add yeast dissolved in ¼ cup water, then beat in 1½ Cups flour. Let rise for 2 hours or until doubled in size.
Then add remaining ingredients and let rise for 2 hours or until doubled in size. Roll dough ¼-inches thick, cut with donut cutter, let rise until double.
Fry in hot grease. Then dip in hot water and roll in powdered sugar.
VARIATIONS/COMMENTS You can also dip them in sugar/cinnamon.
