| 1 | teaspoon | Grated Lemon Zest |

| 1½ | tablespoon | Fresh Ginger |
| ¼ | teaspoon | Grated Nutmeg |
Directions
* Granny Smith apples should be pared, cored and coarsely chopped.
~--------------------------------------------------------------------- ~-- Place apples, cinnamon, apple juice and lemon zest in a large saucepan or Dutch oven. Simmer covered, stirring occasionally, over medium low heat until apples are soft, 20-25 minutes. Stir in sugar to taste, the ginger and the nutmeg. Cook until sugar is dissolved and sauce thickens, about 5 minutes. Serve warm or cold. Remove cinnamon sticks just before serving. Makes about 6 cups. 92 calories per ½ cup. From: Syd's Cookbook.
