Connie's pear chutney

Ingredients

10cupsSliced, firm, ripe pears --
Abt 5 lb.s
½cupFinely chopped green pepper
cupSeedless raisins
4cupsSugar
1cupChopped crystallized ginger
3cupsCider vinegar
½teaspoonPickling salt
½teaspoonAllspice berries
½teaspoonWhole cloves
3Cinnamon sticks -- 2\" long

Directions

Place pears & next 6 ingredients in a saucepan. Tie allspice & cloves in a cheesecloth bag & add along with cinnamon. Cook slowly until pears are tender & mixture thick, about 1 hour.

Remove spices. Ladle into clean, hot half-pint jars, leaving ½ inch headspace. Seal. Process for 10 min in a boiling-water bath or steam canner.
