Bud's corn dogs

Yield: 10 servings

Measure Ingredient
1 cup Flour
1½ cup Corn meal
1 teaspoon Baking powder
2¼ cup Milk
½ tablespoon Sugar
\N \N Dash of salt
2 tablespoons Louisiana Hot Sauce
1 pack Hot Dogs (or for a real heart-stopper, polish sausage -- Hy-Grades makes a \"hot\" variety that will \"kick butt & take down names!\")

Combine all ingredients to form a batter. If too thick add a little more milk. Dip hot dogs in batter and drop them into hot oil. Fry to golden brown.

This was based on a recipe in out family cookbook with this added to it:

These are like the corn dogs sold at county fairs. The "Cozy Dog" drive in is a landmark in Springfield, Illinois. They specialize in these, and it is sometimes rumored that Uncle Bob knew the owner and got his recipe.

I added the hot sauce and readjusted some quantities.

Serve with mustard.
