Brussels sprouts with almonds (microwave)

Yield: 4 servings

Measure Ingredient
1 pounds Frozen Brussels Sprouts
3 tablespoons Slivered almonds
¼ cup Butter
2 tablespoons Fresh lemon juice
\N \N Salt and pepper
1 teaspoon Lemon juice
½ teaspoon Grated lemon zest
1 pinch Allspice


Put the frozen sprouts in a casserole dish with ¼ cup water.

Cover and microwave on HIGH for 10 minutes.

Spread the slivered almonds out on a plate and microwave for 3 to 4 minutes on HIGH, turning once or twice during cooking, until golden brown.

Put the butter in a bowl and melt in the microwave oven for 1-½ minutes on HIGH. Add the lemon juice. Season with salt and pepper.

Stir well.

Drain the sprouts. Put into a vegetable dish and pour the lemon butter over; stir well.

Sprinkle with the slivered almonds and serve hot.

Options: Add a teaspoon of lemon juice, ½ teaspoon grated lemon zest (peel), a pinch of allspice and generous seasoning to the cooking water. This produces a lemon flavored sauce. Orange can be substituted.
