Black bean and sausage posole

Ingredients

| 12 | ounces | Ground turkey sausage |
| 1 | can | Reduced-sodium chicken broth; (14.5 oz.) |
| 1 | can | Black beans; (15 oz.) rinsed and drained |
| 1 | can | Golden hominy; (14.5 ounce) rinsed and drained |
| 1 | can | Mexican-style stewed tomatoes; (14.5 ounce) NOT drained |
| 1 | cup | Frozen loose-pack diced hash browns |
| ½ | cup | Sweet green peppers; chopped |
| ⅓ | cup | Onion; chopped |
| 1 | Clove garlic; minced | |
| ½ | teaspoon | Chili powder |
| 1 | teaspoon | Dried oregano; crushed |
Directions
In large saucepan, brown sausage. Add green pepper, onion, garlic and cook until tender. Stir in broth, black beans, hominy, tomatoes, potatoes, chili powder and oregano. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Cover and simmer 30 minutes.
Serves 6.
NOTES : Made 11-6-97. Added ½ tsp. more chili powder and 1 green chili, chopped. Used Jimmy Dean pork sausage.
