Spicy black beans with onion and bacon - bon appetit

Ingredients

1largeOnion, chopped
2largesGarlic cloves, chopped
215 to 16-oz cans black beans, rinsed, drained
1can(16-oz) diced peeled tomatoes
1can(4-oz) diced green chilies
tablespoonChili powder
2teaspoonsDried oregano
¼teaspoonCayenne pepper

Directions

Cook bacon in heavy large saucepan over medium heat until light brown, about 10 minutes. Add onion and garlic and saute until onion is translucent, about 5 minutes. Add all remaining ingredients. Simmer until chili is thick, stirring frequently, about 12 minutes. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
