Southern style blackeye peas

Yield: 1 Pot

Measure Ingredient
2 cups Blackeye peas
1 cup Uncooked rice
½ teaspoon Pepper
1 small Ham hock
8 cups Cold water
\N \N Salt to taste
\N \N Recipe on back of 2 lb. package
\N \N of Flavorite Blackeye Peas

Place ham hock in water; bring to boil; reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes. Add peas to ham, continue simmering 1½ hours, add rice and simmer 45 minutes or until rice and peas are done and liquid is almost absorbed. Remove meat from bone/ Serve peas and rice on hot platter, place ham on top.
