Sharon's chow mein

Ingredients

½eachHead cabbage, sliced very thin
1largeOnion, sliced in thin strips
4eachesStalks celery, cut thinly on diagonal
Mushrooms, sliced
1packNoodles (dry steamed)
Bean sprouts, rinsed and drained
1teaspoonSugar
½cupWater
Sesame oil
Leftover chicken or beef, slice in thin strips
2eachesGreen onions, chopped
Soya sauce, to taste

Directions

In large Dutch oven, saute the onion, celery and cabbage with the tsp sugar until just shiny. Add mushrooms. Add the bean sprouts, dry noodles and ½ cup water. Cover pot, and lower heat to lowest setting. Allow to steam until noodles are soft, and sprouts are tender crisp. Sprinkle sliced meat and chopped green onions on top, and serve.
