Prime time tacos

Ingredients

½cupChopped onion
1eachClove garlic minced
½teaspoonChili powder
12eachesFrozen/canned tortillas
1Shortening
2eachesTomatoes chopped and drained
3cupsFine shredded lettuce
2cups(8-oz) shredded cheddar cheese
1canMexican hot/enchilada sauce

Directions

In skillet, cook beef, onion, and garlic till meat is browned. Drain.

Add ½ teaspoon salt and chili powder. Set aside, keep warm. In heavy skillet, fry tortillas, one at a time, in ¼ inch hot shortening. When tortilla becomes limp, fold in half with tongs and hold edges apart while frying to allow for filling. Fry 1½-2 minutes or till crisp. Drain. Spoon meat mixture into tortillas, then top with tomato, lettuce and cheese. Pass hot sauce.
