Clippings from magazines and newspapers from the 40's to 70's From : Sallie Krebs ⅓ cup evaporated milk 2 tablesp. mayonnaise or cooked salad dressing 4 teasp. fresh, canned, or frozen lemon juice ¼ teasp. salt 1 teasp. granulated sugar 8 marshmallows, cut up 1 tablesp. lemon juice 1 No. 2½ can pear halves or other fruit, drained ⅓ cup shredded coconut Chill evaporated milk in bowl till ice-cold. Meanwhile, mix together mayonnaise, 4 teasp. lemon juice, salt, and sugar. Fold in marshmallows. Chill about 1 hr., stirring 2 or 3 times. To serve, whip milk with chilled beater; stir in 1 tablesp. lemon juice; fold into dressing. Arrange lettuce on salad plates- top with pears- sprinkle with coconut; spoon on marshmallow dressing. Makes 6 servings. Remember that many fruits and vegetables now come in small cans- 8 Z tall, 8 oz., or buffet (1 cup).
