submitted by: amkillia@... (Anita Killian, Cambridge, MA) This is my dad's recipe. He makes them for all my friends. (He's a sweet guy.) As we say here in the Boston area, they're "to die for!" Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a large baking sheet. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa, soda, and salt. In a different bowl, beat together butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs and beat until combined well. Stir in flour mixture to form a stiff dough. Stir in walnuts and chocolate chips.
With floured hands form dough into 2 logs, each 12" long and 2" wide on the prepared cookie sheet. Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar. Bake 35 minutes or until slightly firm to the touch. Cool on the sheet 5 minutes. Cut biscotti diagonally into ¾" slices. Arrange cut sides down on baking sheet and bake until crisp, around 10 minutes. Cool on rack. Makes around 30.
