Currant-orange scones

Yield: 8 Servings

Measure Ingredient
3 cups Unbleached flour
1 cup Sugar
1 tablespoon Plus
1 teaspoon Baking powder
1 teaspoon Salt
½ cup Butter
1 cup Dried currants
1 tablespoon Grated orange peel
1 large Egg
1 cup Non-fat plain yogurt

Date: Tue, 25 Apr 1995 20:31:35 +0000 Preheat oven to 400F. In a large bowl combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Mix well. Cut butter into flour mixture. Stir in currants and orange peel. In a small bowl, whisk together egg and yogurt. Add to flour mixture, stirring quickly with a fork until dough leaves side of bowl.

Drop rounded tablespoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheets.

Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden. Remove to a wire rack.

Immediately brush or drizzle honey on tops of scones.
