Salsa verde (green sauce)

Ingredients

2mediumsOnions -- chopped
1cupCanned diced green chiles
Yellow hot chiles -- diced
1cupCanned whole tomatoes -- crushed
1tablespoonOregano
½teaspoonBlack pepper
¾teaspoonGarlic powder
¼cupChopped green onions
2tablespoonsChopped bell pepper
2quartsBeef broth

Directions

Combine all ingredients. Bring to a boil, let simmer 1 hour. If needed, add roux to thicken.

Roux: Melt 1 stick of butter. Blend in ¾ cup sifted flour. Can be refrigerated until needed.
