Moros y cristianos

Measure Ingredient
2 cloves garlic -- crushed
1 bay leaf

16 oz can black beans

3 ts olive oil

1 sm onion -- chopped

½ sm jalapeno -- chopped

1 ts salt

1 pn black pepper

1 ts sugar

1 pn oregano

2½ c water

1 c rice

1 ts vinegar

1 ts white wine

Heat 2 teaspoons olive oil in heavy pot, saute onion, garlic, and green pepper until tender. Add salt, pepper, sugar, oregano, bay leaf, black beans, and water. Bring to boil. Add rice. Turn heat to low, simmer ½ hour. Add vinegar and wine. When ready to serve, stir in 1 teaspoon olive oil. Serves 3 to 4.
