1 | pounds | Ground lean beef or lamb |
½ | cup | Fine to medium grade bulgur |
1 | small | Onion, minced |
½ | teaspoon | Crushed dried leaf mint |
½ | teaspoon | Ground allspice |
Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste | ||
2 | tablespoons | Pine nuts |
2 | tablespoons | Butter or margarine, melted |
INGREDIENT
DIRECTIONS
Combine meat, bulgur, onion, mint, allspice, salt and pepper in food processor. Process until doughy. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Grease an 8-inch square baking pan or 9-inch cake pan. Pat half the meat mixture into pan. Moisten your hands and pat surface smooth.
Sprinkle with pine nuts. Cover with remaining meat mixture. Pat smooth. Cut into 1-½-inch squares or diamond shapes without removing from pan. Brush with butter or margarine. Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until firm and browned well. Serve kibbe from pan or invert on a tray or platter. Makes 48 appetizers.
