Fried green tomatoes

Ingredients

1tablespoonBrown Sugar
1cupAll-purpose Flour
4To 6 Green Tomatoes, medium, sliced 1/2' thick
1Egg, beaten
¼cupMilk
1cupSeasoned Dry Bread Crumbs
3tablespoonsButter or Margarine
1tablespoonCooking Oil

Directions

Combine sugar and flour; place on a shallow plate. Dip both sides of each tomato slice into the mixture. Combine the egg and the milk. Dip each tomato slice, then dip into bread crumbs. In a skillet, heat butter and oil over medium-high. Fry tomatoes until brown, but firm enough to hold their shapes.

Yield: about 6 servings.
