½ cup Yellow cornmeal
¼ teaspoon Salt
1 Ground black pepper
⅓ cup Bacon drippings; oil; or shortening

Heat the bacon drippings, oil, or shortening in a heavy skillet and saute the slices in it quickly until browned on both sides.
