Fresh pears in wine

Yield: 6 Servings

Measure Ingredient
6 smalls Fresh pears
1 cup Sauterne wine
1 cup Sugar
½ cup Water
1 teaspoon Crystallized ginger --
Minced
2 tablespoons Lemon juice

Peel pears, leaving fruit whole with stems intact. Place upright in slow-cooking pot. Combine wine with sugar, water, ginger, and lemon juice.

Pour over pears. Cover and cook on low 4 to 6 hours or until pears are tender. Chill and serve plain, with sour cream or whipped cream cheese.
