Currant breakfast bread^

Measure Ingredient
1½ cup Flour
2 teaspoons Baking powder
½ teaspoon Salt
¼ cup Lard
1 cup Sugar
1 Egg
½ cup Milk
⅓ cup Currants
1 teaspoon Cinnamon
1 tablespoon Sugar

Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Cream the lard and gradually add the sugar. Add egg and beat well. Add dry ingredients to this mixture, alternating with the milk. Pour into greased bread pan. Mix together currants, cinnamon and sugar - sprinkle over batter. Bake in a 350F. oven for 25 minutes. Break into pieces and serve with butter.
