|2 cups||Sifted flour|
|½ teaspoon||Baking powder|
|1⅓ cup||Beef suet, ground twice|
|\N \N||Cold water|
|\N \N||MEAT FILLING FOR PASTIES|
Sift flour with salt & baking powder. Add beef suet & shortening & cut fat into flour until particles are very fine. Add enough cold water to make a dough the consistency of pie crust. Chill. Roll out dough to ⅛" thickness on a lightly floured board. Cut out eight 7" rounds. Divide meat filling into 8 portions & cover half of each round with the mixture. Dot top of filling with butter. Fold pastry over filling & seal by moistening edges. Lift with a spatula & put on a cookie sheet. Bake in preheated oven of 350 for 1 hour, or until pastry is golden brown.
