Ingredients

| ½ | cup | Butter or crisco |
| 1¼ | cup | Sugar |
| 1 | teaspoon | Salt (or less) |
| ½ | cup | Milk |
| 3 | teaspoons | Baking powder |
| 2 | Eggs | |
| ⅓ | cup | More milk |
| 1 | teaspoon | Vanilla |
Directions
Sift flour, then measure. cream butter and add flour, sugar, salt and milk. Beat this two minutes. Gradually add remaining ingredients and beat two minutes longer. Pour into a greased pan. Put in a moderate oven. Bakes in 30-35 minutes. Good! Many of the recipes in this collection did not contain amounts or oven temperatures. I have typed them in as they appear in the book, typos and all.
