Green chili and cheddar buttermilk biscuits

1¾ | cup | Whole wheat pastry flour |
1 | tablespoon | Baking powder |
1 | teaspoon | Sugar |
¼ | teaspoon | Baking soda |
¼ | teaspoon | Salt |
2 | tablespoons | Butter or margarine |
1 | cup | Buttermilk |
3 | ounces | Lowfat cheddar cheese; shredded |
2 | ounces | Canned green chili peppers; chopped |
Mix the dry ingredients together. Preheat the oven to 450F.
Using a pastry blender, cut the butter into the flour mixture to make fine crumbs.
Gently stir in the buttermilk, cheese, and peppers, using a fork.
Drop by spoonfuls into 12 mounds on a bakino sheet. Bake for 12 - 15 minutes, or until the biscuits are lightly browned on top. Serve at once.
