Add remaining ¼ cup sugar gradually, beatijng constantly ujntil whites hold their peaks. Fold egg whites slowly into choc. batter with spatula. Pour ¾ of batter into ungreased 9" springform pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 35 minutes. Let torte cool and fall. Run knife around edge and pour remaining uncooked batter on top and chill. Whip heavy cream with 1 tsp vanilla and 2 tsps sugar or to taste until it has a thick whipped cream consistency.
Spread or use pastry bag with star tip on top of cake and use remaining choc. square to decorate with shavings. (use veggie peeler) Refrigerate until serving. Posted to EAT-L Digest by Marie Whitman <goinnutz@...> on Aug 28, 1997
