Mr food's mushroom barley soup

Yield: 8 Servings

Measure Ingredient
4 larges Onions, chopped
6 larges Carrots, peeled and sliced
1 pounds Mushrooms, thinly sliced
1 pounds Stew beef, cut into small cubes
8 cups Beef broth (made from a soup base or a mix)
1 cup Medium barley
½ teaspoon Poon salt
½ teaspoon Black pepper

all the ingredients in a soup pot and bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Reduce the heat and simmer, partially covered, for about 1 hour. NOTE: If you'd like, add 1 or 2 shots of Irish whiskey with the other ingredients for added flavor. It'll make it really Irish! In addition to the base recipe ingredients, you might want to add some cut-up hot dogs and a teaspoon of caraway seed for Germa ½ teaspoon each of oregano and rosemary for Italian-style soup.
