Chocolate apple bread

1 tablespoon Sugar
½ teaspoon Cinnamon
4 cups All-purpose flour
1 teaspoon Salt
1 teaspoon Baking powder
1 teaspoon Baking soda
1 teaspoon Cinnamon
½ teaspoon Nutmeg
1 cup Butter,softened
½ cup Chopped walnuts or pecans
2 cups Sugar
4 Eggs
2 teaspoons Vanilla extract
¼ cup Buttermilk
3 cups Coarsely chopped apples
1 cup Chopped walnuts
12 ounces Semi-sweet chocolate chips

Topping: In cup, combine sugar, cinnamon and walnuts; set aside.

Bread: 1. Preheat oven to 350'F. Grease two 9x5x3" loaf pans. In small bowl, combine flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon and nutmeg; set aside. 2. In large bowl, beat butter and sugar until creamy. Add eggs and vanilla extract; mix well. Gradually beat in flour mixture alternately with buttermilk. Stir in apples, walnuts, and chocolate chips. Pour into prepared pans. Sprinkle with topping.

3. bake 50-60 minutes until cake tester inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 15 minutes; remove from pans. Cool completely. Makes 2 loaves.
