Measure Ingredient
2¼ teaspoon Yeast
3 cups Bread flour
1 teaspoon Salt
½ teaspoon Sugar
1 large Egg -- beaten w/2 pin salt
4 tablespoons Unsalted butter
¾ cup Water
1 large Egg
1 \N Egg yolk

EGG WASH

Add all ingredients except egg wash. Set machine for knead and first rise. Remove dough and punch down. Let rest for 5 minutes before hand shaping. Lightly sprinkle work surface with flour. Divide dough into 3 equal pieces. Dampen hands and roll each piece into a 16" long rope. Sprinkle dough with flour if too sticky. Lay ropes next to each other and pinch top ends together . Braid the ropes and pinch the remaining ends together. Place on a lightly greased 13 x 9 baking pan. Tuck ends under. Cover with a clean kitchen cloth and let rise until doubled in size, about 1 to 1½ hours, and set aside. Preheat oven to 375. Prepare egg wash. Brush braid with egg wash. Wait 5 minutes. Brush again. Wait 15 minutes to let egg wash dry. Bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven and cool on wire rack.
