Winter fruit crisp with cinnamon cream

Yield: 12 Servings

8 cups Sliced peeled cooking apples
4 cups Sliced peeled pears
1 cup Coarsely chopped dried apricots
2 tablespoons Lemon juice
⅓ cup Granulated sugar
¼ cup All-purpose flour
1 teaspoon Cinnamon
¼ teaspoon Nutmeg
⅓ cup Liquid honey
1 cup All-purpose flour
1 cup Packed brown sugar
½ teaspoon Salt
¾ cup Butter
1 cup Rolled oats
½ cup Chopped hazelnuts
¼ pounds Cream cheese
¼ cup Granulated sugar
1 teaspoon Cinnamon
1 cup Whipping cream, whipped

CINNAMON CREAM TOPPING

Filling: In large bowl, stir together apples, pears, apricots and lemon juice. Mix together sugar, flour, cinnamon and nutmeg; toss with fruit.

Spoon into greased 13x9 inch baking dish or casserole. Drizzle with honey.

Topping: In mixing bowl or food processor, mix together flour, sugar and salt; cut in butter until crumbly. Add rolled oats and nuts, stirring to mix well. Sprinkle evenly over fruit mixture. Bake in 350øF oven for 45 to 55 minutes or until topping is crisp and fruit is tender when tested with sharp knife. Serve warm or at room temperature with Cinnamon Cream Topping. Serves 12

Cinnamon Cream Topping: In mixing bowl, beat together cheese, sugar and cinnamon until cheese is softened. Gradually fold in whipped cream, and brandy (if using), mixing until well blended. Makes 3 cups. Typed in MMFormat by cjhartlin@... Source: Canadian Living Merry Christmas Cookbook.
