2 cups | All-purpose flour |
1½ cup | Sugar |
1 tablespoon | Baking cocoa |
1½ teaspoon | Baking soda |
1 teaspoon | Each ground cinnamon; nutmeg, allspice and cloves |
1 teaspoon | Salt |
½ cup | Shortening |
2 cups | Applesauce |
2 \N | Eggs; lightly beaten |
½ cup | Semisweet chocolate chips |
½ cup | Chopped walnuts |
1 cup | Raisins; optional |
½ cup | Semisweet chocolate chips |
½ cup | Chopped walnuts |
2 tablespoons | Brown sugar |
TOPPING
In a mixing bowl, combine dry ingredients. Add shortening, applesauce and eggs; beat until well mixed. Stir in chocolate chips, walnuts and raisins if desired. Pour into a greased 13-in x 9-in x 2-in baking pan. Combine topping ingredients and sprinkle over batter. Bake at 350 for 35-40 minutes or until cake test done.
