| ½ cup | Chopped bacon |
| ¼ cup | Diced ham |
| ½ cup | Diced onion |
| 1 teaspoon | Chopped garlic |
| 1 pounds | Green beans, trimmed |
| Salt and black pepper |
In a saucepan cook bacon until fat begins to render. Add ham, onion and garlic and cook for 1 minute. Add beans and 1 cup water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer until beans are very tender, 8 to 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Drain. Transfer to a warm dish for serving.
