Peanut ring

Measure Ingredient
350 grams Self-raising flour
1 teaspoon Salt; (5 g)
2 teaspoons Baking powder; (10 g)
60 grams Salted peanuts; roughly chopped
2 teaspoons Bovril or Marmite; (10 g)
250 millilitres Warm water
125 grams Crunchy peanut buttermilk for glazing
20 \N Cm flan ring; greased
\N \N Baking sheet; greased

PLACE the flan ring on a baking sheet and set oven to 190o C or moderately hot. Mix together flour, salt, baking powder and half the peanuts in a bowl. Dissolve the Bovril or Marmite in warm water and stir into the flour with peanut butter. Knead the mixture to a smooth, slightly marbled dough.

Divide the dough into nine pieces and shape each piece into a cork shape.

Arrange the dough shapes radiating from the centre of the flan ring Brush the top with milk, sprinkle the remaining peanuts over it. Bake above the centre of the oven for 45 to 50 minutes, covering with foil if necessary.

Turn out and cool on a wire rack.
