|Rinsed and picked over|
|1 can||(14oz) stewed|
|Tomatoes with juices|
|(not oil-packed), chopped|
|2 teaspoons||Salt or to taste|
|Black pepper to taste|
In a large bowl, cover the peas with cold water; let soak overnight.
Drain and rinse the peas; place in a large pot and add onions, stewed tomatoes, molasses, sun-dried tomatoes, and 2 cups water. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer until the peas are very tender and the sauce is thick, 2½-3 hours. Add more water as needed. Season with salt and pepper and serve.
