½ cup | Butter or shortening |
1 cup | Sugar |
2 cups | Flour |
4 teaspoons | Baking powder |
¼ teaspoon | Salt |
1 cup | Milk |
12 ounces | Chocolate chips |
2 cups | Boiling water; (or hot coffee) |
Mix together butter, sugar, flour, baking powder and salt. Add milk. Pour this batter into a big oblong cake pan (preferably glass). Sprinkle the top with a lot of brown sugar, and nuts if you like them. Then sprinkle on chocolate chips and pour water over the chocolate chips and bake it in a 350 F oven for ~50 minutes.
The chocolate all slides to the bottom of the pan. Best served with ice cream or whipped cream.
